Care: This bonsai prefers to be cared for outdoors. It is hardy in USDA zones 5-9. It is safe to leave your Flowering Quince outside until the nighttime temperatures are in the lower 20's. During the winter it can be stored in an unheated garage or storage area. Quince are deciduous plants and may lose their leaves in the fall and winter for their dormancy period. When nighttime temperatures are consistently in the 40's, it can be brought back outside. Their main time to shine is late winter as they bloom before their leaves emerge and are among the first plants to bloom while everything else is still dormant.
